Tips on how to stay focused
Studying, working or staying focused sometimes can be just too hard! There’s someday that you have to concentrate and get things done, but your brain is just not having a bar of it. Keep reading for some useful tips on how to stay focused.
ONE TASK AT A TIME
Running multiple tasks, all at the same time is one of the main reasons we end up overwhelmed or making mistakes. Our mind is capable of multi-tasking. However, it only applies if your brain is using the same senses. For example, when you’re watching Netflix, you’re focusing on the characters and on the subtitles, both of them are taken care by our vision.
TAKE A BREATHER EVERY COUPLE OF HOURS
We all wish we could go from start to finish without taking any breaks in between. The truth is, taking a short break helps you recharge and focus on your work for a longer period of time. However, these breaks shouldn’t be an excuse to go on your phone! Grab something to eat, have a drink or get some fresh air.
SCHEDULED INTERNET BREAKS
Unscheduled internet use derails our focus from tasks. If you know you’re likely to get stuck scrolling through Game of Thrones memes rather than studying, make sure you physically aren’t able to do this. There are heaps of internet add-ons out there to block you from websites that aren’t study-related for a set period of time.
PUT THAT PHONE OUT OF SIGHT
While we’re trying to give our undivided attention to a task, it’s important to minimize the distractions. If your task involves using Internet, try to use your laptop, tablet or work phone rather than your personal phone to decrease the likelihood of opening up Instagram.
PRACTICE MINDFUL EXERCISES
It doesn’t matter whether it’s in the morning, the afternoon or at night, making time for mindfulness is super important for our focus and overall wellbeing. Take 5 minutes to perform a simple breathing exercise or take an hour to go to a yoga class. No matter what approach you take, mindfulness helps you de-stress, boost oxygen levels in the circulation to the brain and stay focused.
DO THE TASK WHERE IT NEEDS TO BE DONE
The space you chose to work contributes a great deal to our concentration levels. You wouldn’t cook dinner in your bathroom so why study in your bed? Find an uncluttered, quiet place to get your tasks done; this may be at home or at the local library.
On top of these tips, we have also developed a product that helps to boost mental performance and delivers support for mental clarity, focus and enhance memory. Drinking too much coffee or many energy drinks is not healthy or sustainable in time. SUP Focus contains a well researched traditional Ayurvedic brain tonic called Brahmi combined with other herbs, minerals and vitamins to fuel our mind and get things done!
